I grew up most of my young adult life in the Midwest. Just around my 29th birthday I was fortunate to escape to the West Coast. Living on the west coast for quite some time exposed me to some unique spiritual practices/ experiences. I didn’t start to be sincere on my path until my thirties. Eventually one of my loves became Kirtan. The first time I played a harmonium my eyes filled with tears and it made my heart sing. Devotional songs/Kirtan have come to be a very important part of my own spiritual practice. I’m grateful whether I am just listening to it, singing it or sitting in meditation silently absorbed. I have had several opportunities to share devotional music with other musicians and other sincere hearts on the west coast, the Midwest and in North Carolina (places I’ve lived). I’m grateful I get to come and share it with more sincere hearts, and at my favorite hot springs on the planet.

Forest Bathing Walk with Robert Bray

Immerse yourself in the natural splendor of Sierra Hot Springs, deepen your connection to its healing powers, and discover the simple pleasures of nature that are right here just for us with a forest bathing guided walk by Robert Bray.  Forest Bathing (or Forest Therapy) is a slow, gentle and meditative wander, activated by invitations offered by the guide and designed to deepen your sensory connection to nature. It is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or “bathing in the atmosphere of the forest,” developed to foster well-being and good health through the embodiment of the healing powers of nature.  We won’t walk far, it’s not a hike, we won’t literally bathe in water.  Walks last about 90 minutes. The focus is on connection to and relationship with the more than human world. Bring your curiosity, wear sturdy shoes, bring water if needed.

Qigong: Tools for Self-healing: 1-1/4 hour class With Beth Freewomon

Qigong (A.K.A. Chi Gong) is a moving meditation technique that not only improves physical fitness, but also assists us in achieving a deeper sense of calm, relieves tension and stress, and helps us recover from injury and illness. It is part of the ancient systems of Taoism and Chinese medicine that value the interconnectedness and inherent wholeness of all of our Self and our body’s seeming parts. Qigong supports our bodies’ natural capacity for self-healing. Qigong allows us to relax, get out of “fight or flight” and our parasympathetic nervous system to take over so healing can happen. Our practice includes conscious breathing, stretching, activation of chi, flowing movements and more.
